About Me

Cat Boysen: Cat Boysen's work shows a deep understanding of light and color. She works with a minimal palette, using colors carefully to produce paintings that capture the subtle beauty in life. Every element is painted with such rich color and texture. Since receiving her bachelor’s degree in fine arts from Kendall College of Art and Design, she has been an art teacher, graphic designer, and oil painter. Her life has been devoted to creating fine art following in the thoughts and footsteps of an oil painter named Caravaggio who lived at the time in Rome when huge new churches were being built and paintings were needed to fill them. Wanting to paint subject matter like Caravaggio, she has the will to spend the rest my life depicting the epic story of Christianity like he did. Being influenced by the old masters, she creates her pieces using the classical method of under painting combined with a glazing technique in oils. Her technique uses light to dispel darkness by working with a single shaft of glistening light.
